Whitstable Kitesurfing Legends (WKL)

HISTORY The group was created on April 12th 2015 when a number of beginner kitesurfers exchanged telephone numbers after finishing a lesson and promised to keep in touch. They realised then that to be successful at this sport they needed to meet up with likeminded people. Soon after a Facebook messenger group was created and jokingly named Kitesurfing legends!!! It grew quickly, lifelong friendships made and by accident a forum was created that helped members to meet up, report the wind conditions, provide advice (wind direction, kite size, tide times etc.) and share stories. This group is the main reason they learnt to kitesurf, keep safe and has changed lives.

On the 12th October 2016 the group became an official BKSA club.

PURPOSE Provide a safe and fun environment for new and experienced kitesurfers.

PARKING MEMBERSHIP The club has partnered with the WRWUG who manage a car park with a cold shower on the seafront behind Boardworx. Members who take this optional £30 addition to their club membership can park on the seafront while taking part in kitesurfing related activities. Members are encouraged to park in an orderly manner making sure they do not block the jetty which is used by other clubs. When parking, members must leave their parking membership card in clear sight on their dashboard. The car park is currently being used by local builders so the parking availability is reduced, but by April 2017 will be back to normal and fully refurbished.
