This Privacy Policy explains our data processing practices and your options regarding the ways in which your personal data is used. Information collected

The BKSA collects the details provided by you on registration together with information we learn about you from your use of our service and your visits to our web site and other sites accessible from them. Our Totally secure third party collector Worldpay also collect information about the transactions you undertake including details of payment cards used.

We may collect additional information in connection with your participation in any promotions or competitions offered by us and information you provide when giving us feedback or completing profile forms. We also monitor customer traffic patterns and site use which enables us to improve the service we provide.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

If you send a contact form request to us, it is stored within our database. Once the information is acted upon it is deleted.

Newsletter registration forms

By signing up to our newsletter you consent to have your name, email and date of birth stored within our emailing software on our web server. This data is stored both in the Wordpress database and in the mailing software database.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to improve website performance and and monitor website usage. It records the following anonymous data from your usage: website browser, the pages you read, your device, IP address (anonymised), internet connection and your approximate location is inferred from the IP Address.

Security

We use the Wordfence firewall software that uses an IP blocking mechanism to prevent bots and malicious users from misusing the website, however we do not send this data outside our own database.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If your opt-in to our newsletter we retain that data indefinitely.

Analytics data we also store indefinitely.

We store your subscription data indefinitely.

Use of your information and your preferences

We will use your information to provide and personalise our service – this includes passing on communication details to clubs you have joined via our site . We will also use your contact details to communicate with you. We may use your information to send you offers and news about the BKSA products and services or those of other carefully selected companies which we think may be of interest to you. We may contact you by post, email, or telephone for these purposes.

Once you have registered with the BKSA you will be provided with access to a “your membership details ” page that will allow you to change the details we hold about yourself.

If you do not wish to receive newsletters there is an opt out – however you may not receive vital information as we do not send postal reminders due to costs.

We like to hear your views to help us improve our service. From time to time, we may contact you by post, email, or telephone to ask your opinions.

Please note that there may be instances where it may be necessary for us to communicate with you, in any event, for administrative or operational reasons relating to our service.

Disclosures of your information

Your information may be passed to and used by all BKSA departments. We will never pass your personal data to anyone else, except for other companies that may process membership data on our behalf both in the UK. We may also use and disclose information in aggregate (so that no individual customers are identified) for marketing and strategic development purposes.

Other web sites

Our web site may contain links to other web sites which are outside our control and are not covered by this Privacy Policy. If you access other sites using the links provided, the operators of these sites may collect information from you which will be used by them in accordance with their privacy policy, which may differ from ours.

The BKSA may uses cookies for a number of purposes, for instance to enable us to simplify the logging on process for registered users, to help ensure the security and authenticity of registered users, to provide the mechanisms for online shopping and to enable traffic monitoring.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Our firewall and security software called Wordfence sets three cookies but they are all reserved for website administrators and not for the general public.

Most browsers allow you to turn off the cookie function. If you want to know how to do this please look at the help menu on your browser. As described above this will restrict the online BKSA services you can use.

Access rights over your data

You have a right to access the personal data that is held about you. To obtain a copy of the personal information the BKSA holds about you, please email us – [email protected] 

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Opt-Out

To comply with the Data Protection act 1998 and our statement of intent when you became a member, we are giving you the option to opt-out of any mailings and promotions.
