Local Clubs

You can also join British Kitesports through one of our Affiliated Clubs.  Simply choose the club you wih to join from the drop down menu on the joining page.  We will then give that Club an additional £5 on top of the Club fee we collect from you on their behalf. this money is just one way we support our Clubs to do develop kitesports around the UK.  For details of all the regional clubs see the clubs page. British Kitesports is actively encouraging and supporting regional clubs to form and we are here to help. Clubs are the lifeblood of the sport, ensuring a local point of contact for any issues that may arise locally. Councils and bodies prefer to talk to clubs as apposed to individuals.

INSTRUCTOR Membership:  (NON COMMERCIAL)

Instructor membership: This is a NON COMMERCIAL policy for school teachers, local authority youth workers, scout leaders and other operators operating in non commercial environments. In addition to providing cover for your activities as an instructor the policy also provides cover for your own participation in the sports. The policy provides cover for you as an individual instructor and will indemnify you personally against the risks insured, it is not a school or club insurance policy as should you operate a school or club you must take out insurance cover in the name of your school or club. The policy does not provide cover for employees or instructors sub-contracted in, should you do this you need a school insurance policy which is available from our brokers Bluefin Sport Insurance. The Personal Accident cover applies to you as an individual, it does not cover the people you are teaching.

School Insurance

The BKSA only recognises commercial tuition through its recognised schools network. For a sole trader recognised school insurance policy please contact our Bluefin sport directly once you have confirmation of your school recognition.

Coaches:

As a British Kitesports coach you can purchase  British Kitesports instructor membership and operate commercially running coaching courses and clinics in accordance with  British Kitesports coaching guidelines, i.e. Follow guidelines for coaching, risk assessments, first aid/eap’s, ratios, locations, rescue provision etc.  The same exclusions to cover apply, in that you would only be covered as an individual instructor/coach, NOT as a school or when employing or sub-contracting other instructors/coaches or training staff. Coaching insurance does not cover level 1 and 2 of the syllabus and is only valid for ‘coaching’ independent kitesurfers with BKSA insurance, from the intermediate stages of the scheme and above.
