Camber “KITE WEEK 2012!” Round Up

Kite Week 2012 was a huge success with people arriving from Germany, Poland, Holland, Luxebourg and the midlands. People enjoyed the tranquil setting of the camping and the activities organised by Camber Kitesurfing on site, these included a zip slide, hot showers, outdoor cinema and nightly entertainment from talented musicians. The week was blessed with hot weather and some good wind came through for the ‘Black Tie’ competition on Saturday.  The mid week downwind kitesurfing expedition was featured in the Rye Observer, the mid week Mini Railway Pub Crawl was also a huge hit.
On the final saturday there was an unusual kitesurfing competition, it was judged by a member of public with no knowledge of kitesurfing and the dress code was shirt and bow tie! It made for a bizarre spectacle for press and onlookers! The week was finished off by prize giving hosted by Ward Homes of White Sands and a big party at the Camber Castle pub with top band ‘Under The Covers’ playing the night away. We hope kite week will continue to grow now that Kitesurfing has been appointed an Olympic Sport.
