Chapeltown Kite Festival – Kite Fliers Wanted

The Sheffield Kite Fliers will be attending the Chapeltown Kite Festival this year at Chapeltown Park, in North Sheffield, close to the M1 J35, between 10.00am and 1.00pm on Saturday, 10th March. We would like to invite other BKSA members of all abilities, with any type of kite, to come along and join us flying kites as this event.

Chapeltown Kite Festival gives us a great opportunity to demonstrate Power Kiting to the general public and introduces them to the sport and our club. This will be our tenth year at the festival and it’s a fantastic showcase for power kiting with our displays usually drawing good size crowds and many queries. There is a local group of volunteers, who look after the park, who will provide a children’s kite making workshop on the day along with cheap refreshments and bacon butties!

We want to encourage people to give kiting a try in the future and also ensure people are aware of the safety aspects of the sport. It’s not the one of the city’s biggest parks but there’s always space left over so as a friendly group of local kiters we would love for others to come along and support this event.
