33 competitors registered for the 3 day competition held for the 5th year at the Lifestyles festival.
The Festival is a melee of extreme sports, skateboard, BMX, windsurf, kitesurf and of course two big nights of parties and bands.
Friday saw the Pro riders ready to compete however the wind did not come – we were all treated to a great Lasagne on at Hunstanton Sailing Club while all the other competitors for the other fleets rocked up after some very long and tiring journeys
Saturday was always going to be the best day in terms of sunshine and many riders enjoyed the shows whilst topping off their tans. A fanatatstic Hog roast was held in the evening – ready for the long evening – which for most ended at Midnight.
Sunday an early call was made as the wind was due in early with the rain! All competitors were ready at nine – however it seemed that the wind had gone through earlier in the morning.
A lot of hanging around until 11am and a new light wind game called “Pit Stop “ – pumping kites up and setting out lines as quickly as possible – this was great fun to watch on the slippery wet grass !
Seasoned Senior Pete Jones well-rehearsed in after work sessions was first up pumping up his 10 m head of everyone else.
As this finished the wind seemed to fill in – so it was all go to comp mode
The first round of the Youth was run only for it to be black-flagged 4 mins in.
A Slope style event was then run however the wind again decided to shut off after 10 mins and swing more offshore – and thus ended the event – Morgan Tinsley – making the most of the wind to land a few sweet moves to take the win.
Prize giving was done at 2.30 in the clubhouse with special thanks to Nikki Durrant for organising the food all the lifestyles staff and all the Sailing Club who accommodated us very well.
