Keros Kite Camp Volunteer needed
Do you fancy volunteering with our charity?
Access Adventures aims to improve the quality of life for people with physical disabilities through organising adaptive sports camps.
An adaptive kite camp with Surf Club Keros is scheduled for 12 – 19 September in Limnos, Greece. It’s an exciting project as there are not many opportunities for disabled people to get involved in the sport. There will be 6 disabled participants on the camp who are new to the sport, we’re hoping they return from the camp with a great sense of achievement after the challenge of learning to kitesurf and being in an inaccessible environment.
We need 2 able-bodied ‘volunteers’ to help the camp run more smoothly. As a new charity, we unfortunately have very limited funding. If you are able to cover the cost of your flight, we can offer the camp (accommodation & full catering) for a £350 donation.
Volunteer roles will generally include carrying equipment, loading wheelchairs in & out of the van, helping people get around on the sand etc, however if you also feel confident to assist in the water this will be possible. You won’t be busy all day and there will be the chance to get plenty of kiting in yourself! We hope that you would also benefit from the experience by furthering your knowledge on adaptive kiting.
Please get in touch if you’re interested, using the contact details below. We can then provide suggested flight details. Setting up a fundraising page is an option if covering your own costs would be difficult. We can assist with that.
Have a look at our website for more info on the camp www.accessadventures.co.uk/kiting
We would greatly appreciate any support you can give!
