KTE European Kitesurfing Championships Round 1 France
Bonjour!
From rainy Scotland I jetted on a plane to Marseille. I met up with Sabrina Lutz and we made our way to Almanarre where the event was being held. After 1.5 hours of driving we arrived at the lovely little town of Hyeres. Arriving two days before the competition started allowed us to settle into the local lingo and get a few practice sessions at the event beach. It was great to see a large number of competitors from the UK J
On day one we completed the single elimination. The conditions were challenging with very stong winds and lots of choppy + wavey water. I rode my 7m North Vegas and 134X40 North Team series board with Ronix Frank boots. I felt really powered during my heats. I won 2 heats which put me up to a chance of being in the final, however in my third heat the wind had picked up even more and I was properly maxed on my 7m. I still felt I had performed well but crashed a few of my better tricks and so I lost that heat. I still made it into the ‘losers final’ and took 4th Place in the Single Elimination. I was really motivated to climb the ladder in the double elimination!
On day two we completed the double elmination and sadly I lost against fellow UK rider Hannah Whiteley who took 4th place and me in 5th..
There were 16 women competing and I am satisfied with my results J.
Days three and four were windless but very hot and sunny, we had all finished competing so we took the time the chill out and catch up with all the riders, go driving in the Mini’s and some wakeboarding took place. We ate plenty of delicious French baguettes! Thank you to ALL the sponsors that made the event possible! Nous avons eu un très bon moment – We had a brilliant time.
Can’t wait for Round 2 in Sylt Germany.
Thank you to the BKSA for the support and my lovely sponsors:
