Worthing ‘Win A Day With Lewis’ Competition

Last month I teamed up with my home town to offer people the chance to win an extraordinary day with me. The prize included an introduction to the breathtaking world of kitesurfing along with a two night stay for two in Worthing. Tim and Paul won the online competition and they headed down from Wales and Bristol for there first experience of Worthing. Already avid kitesurfers they were keen to ride all day and the wind really delivered. I was proud to show them a classic Sea Breeze Sunny day in Worthing, we rode some different sports, went longboarding and hung out at the Burlington hotel for Breakfast and Dinner. Here’s a quote from competition winner Tim,

“Having never ventured down to Worthing I was really impressed with the whole experience. The kitesurfing with Lewis was great & the weather didn’t let us down! The Burlington Hotel really looked after us! After a long day of playing in the wind you really cant go wrong with some good quality nosh followed by some chocolate brownie & ice cream! I’ll definitely be back, maybe for the big air event in July, or even just a spontaneous weekend away” – Timmy Willmott

School Workshops

The last 4 weeks I’ve been busier then ever in around the schools. Using Kitesurfing as my tool I have covered Eco Matters, Wind Energy, The Olympics, Staying Positive, The Beach and more. The last few months have been windy so much its been great to get outside and fly my small Slingshot Trainer kite. On some occasions the kids have had a go too, it really does help them zone out and get in touch with things which really matter in life. In this update I have attached some really special photo’s which include the moment I set up my small trainer kite and prey there is enough wind for it to take off! I’ve developed some great ways to keep the kids entertained by separating them into groups and filling my kites up with kids to show the different sizes. This leads to a good debate on why I have different kites and how the weather can deliver different winds.

Paddle Round The Pier

All weekend (9th/10th July) I went down to Paddle Round The Pier Charity Festival in Brighton. It’s an event I’m usually at but this time I was right in the thick of it at the Huets In Van Specialists stand. Those of you that know me will know my van means a lot to me. Slingshot/Dakine UK have been really supportive towards keeping my van going all these years (its 17 years old now!) I always kept it looking nice and had put a great system in the back- well I thought I did until Huets completely revamped it making it my favourite place to be. Even right now I’m parked up opposite Brighton Pier writing this update!

The event was a great opportunity to talk to people about how they can get the most out of there van. I got out a fair bit on the water kitesurfing and even managed to get on a Live Interview with Brighton’s Number one radio Station Juice FM! It was the perfect time to mention Huets and the Big Air Open event next week…
